Cure for perspiration due to debility
Spontaneous perspiration and night
sweats are syndrome of disorder in the bodily function of
discharging sweat due to imbalance of yin and yang, and weakness of
the superficial and pores. Therefore cases of hyperhidrosis mostly
belong to asthenia syndrome
Xu han ting originates from the
prescription of concha ostreae powder recorded in the famous medical
classics prescriptions of Taiping benevolent dispensary in Song
dinasty (960-1279 AD) and is refine with modern pharmaceutical
techniques based on the originated prescription but with additions
and deductions. This prescription can not only be applied in
treatment of spontaneous perspiration due to deficiency of qi but
also in night sweats due to yin deficiency. The heavy dose of calcined
concha ostreae as a main drug in the prescription tends to nourish
yin and suppress the hyperactive yang to astringe and cease sweating.
Radix astragali seu hedysari sweet in taste and warm in nature,
applicable to invigorating qi, serves as a supplement to consolidate
the superficial and cease perspiration. Fructus tritici levis can
invigorate heart qi, nourish heart yin and stop the discharging of
sweat. Excessive sweating or prolonged sweating in turn will exhaust
yin qi. Radix oryzae glutinosae and fructus jujubae are added so as
to enhance the effect of invigorating qi, strengthening the spleen
and nourishing yin to cease perspiration. The combined application of
the above drugs makes qi and yin nourished and replenished and the
superficial consolidated. Thus perspiration can be ceased
Xu han ting has been applied in
clinical experiments respectively in the affiliated hospital of the
Guang zhou college of TCM and other 3 hospitals in the treatment of
spontaneous perspiration and night sweat caused by application of
antibiotic in treatment of various types of inflammatory diseases or
syndromes of spleen deficiency, deficiency of both the spleen and
lung and lung qi deficiency caused by other diseases. The total
effective rate comes to 95.8%. In treatment of spontaneous
perspiration is grown up due to syndrome of deficiency of yang qi,
both qi and yin and that of yin blood caused by chemotherapy or
radiotherapy in treatment of tumour, or inflammatory and chronic
diseases, the effective rate amounts to 96%
